Getting around Bangkok by train is a popular option. There are 4 different rail transportation systems operating in Bangkok, namely BTS Skytrain, MRT, SRT and Airport Rail Link (ARL). The trains are modern, air-conditioned, comfortable and speedy. Train tickets are generally inexpensive.
However interconnection among the different train systems left much to be desired. There is no common ticketing system, so changing lines involve the hassle of physically exiting a station, entering another nearby station and purchasing another train ticket.
